Where the job ads come from

This page describes which sources we use, under which terms, and what our system does with the data. It is a factual description, not a legal text.

What we do with the data

An ad is not passed on unchanged. The system changes it in these ways:

• We do not take over contact details from the source field intended for them. In the description text we mask email addresses and phone numbers.
• We do not shorten the ad text itself. It appears as the source delivers it.
• We parse salary information and convert it into one currency so it can be compared. The original text is kept as well.
• We normalise locations so that different spellings of the same city are found together.
• We assign a country to each ad where the data allows it. Where it does not, the field stays empty rather than guessed.
• The same job found on several portals is merged into one entry, with the other places shown alongside.
• For signed-in users we calculate a personal match score. It belongs to the account, not to the ad.
• We assign each ad to a job family, based on patterns in the job title.
• Technical codes from the source (such as the French ROME code) are carried along but not displayed.
• When an ad expires at the source we archive it and clear the description text. Nothing is deleted.

What we do not change

• We do not rewrite or summarise any ad.
• We do not translate the ad text.
• Applying always leads to the ad at the source. We do not step in between.
